- This release note discusses some known issues with regards to the use of
- Connections for Windows 2000 S-Series, C-Series, and Other.

- Installation
- ==========================================================================

- Upgrading from previous versions of Connections for Windows NT
-
- Upgrading Connections for Windows 2000 from previous versions of
- Connections for Windows NT is not supported in this release.
-
- Installing the WAN Miniport drivers and Routing Services.
-
- In Windows 2000, Eicon WAN Miniport drivers and Routing Services
- are installed using the "Add New Hardware" Wizard.
-

- Installing an EiconCard C3X
-
- C3X cards are not supported in this release.
-

-
- Installing an EiconCard S5X
-
- S5X cards are not automatically detected and must be manually installed
- through the "Add New Hardware" Wizard.

- Legacy EiconCards
-
- EC/PC, DPNA and HSI cards are no longer supported.

- Using WAN Miniport
- ==========================================================================

- ISDN WAN Miniport
-
- Customers who are experiencing problems using ISDN WAN Miniport for PPP
- connections with the Spanish PTT's IP network (Infovia) should contact
- Eicon Technology for an update.

- X.25 WAN Miniport
-
- Customers who wish to use the X.25 WAN Miniport and any other Eicon or
- third-party application, on the same port, should contact Eicon
- Technology for an update of the WAN Miniport driver.
-
- Customers wishing to use more than 16 channels should contact Eicon
- Technology for an update of the WAN Miniport driver.
-
- Customers must make sure to disable the Auto Activate feature in the Eicon Configuration
- Program when using the WAN Miniport.
-
- IPXCP Support with DIVA WAN Miniport
-
- IPXCP is not supported when connecting to a Connections for Windows NT
- Router using DIVA WAN Miniport on a Windows 95 workstation.

- Using PPP Connections
- ==========================================================================

- Consider the following issues if you use PPP connections.
-
- When configuring your PPP connection, keep in mind that the "Request IP Address" option
- is not available in this release.
-

- Using Dynamic PPP
-
- If you are using Dynamic PPP, make sure all of your connections are
- configured for auto-start.
-
- Using PAP and CHAP authentication
-
- Be aware of the following when using PAP and CHAP authentication:
-
- o PAP and CHAP negotiation are enabled by default.
-
- o If you are using CHAP authentication, the PPP local password is used
- as your CHAP Secret. If you are using PAP authentication, the PPP
- local password is used as your PAP local password.
-
- o If you are connecting two Eicon Routers, only CHAP authentication is
- negotiated.
-

- Eicon XPAD driver
- =========================================================================
-
- The Eicon XPAD driver is not available in this release. Please contact Eicon Technology
- for software updates.

- Miscellaneous
- ==========================================================================

- The following issues should also be considered when using Connections
- for Windows 2000 S-Series, C-Series, and Other.
-
- Available Sessions
-
- If you have used the maximum number of X.25 sessions for a port and you
- wish to enable a trace for the port, you must first close one of the
- open sessions. This is necessary because the trace needs to use a
- session.
-
- Using Hayes AT modems
-
- There is currently no support for the use of Hayes AT modems with the
- EiconCards S64, S90, S91, and S94.
-
- Using FM1 Encoding
-
- You may encounter problems when using FM1 encoding.
-
- Segmentation Support on Frame Relay Connections
-
- Connections for Windows NT S-series, C-series, and Other does not
- support segmentation on Frame Relay connections.
-
- Using Microsoft SNA Server 3.0 Service Pack 1
-
- If you wish to use Microsoft SNA Server 3.0 Service Pack 1, make sure
- you install it before you configure the Eicon SNA Server Link Drivers.
-
- Multilink Support with the DIVA Client
-
- Multilink is not supported when connecting to a Connections for Windows
- NT Router using the DIVA Client on a Windows NT workstation.

- Using Compression with Ascend Routers
-
- In order to connect to an Ascend Router using compression, you must
- specify Auto as the type of compression.
-
- SNMP Support for EiconCards
-
- SNMP support is not included in this release. Contact Eicon Technology for updated
- software.
